API Release Notes

update: Preparing for COBB Tariff Surcharge - June 2, 2025

If you are not a COBB authorized dealer, or don't handle multi-customer integrations, you may disregard this announcement as it does not apply to you and no changes are required.

COBB announced that effective June 2, 2025, they will begin to add a Tariff Surcharge to their product pricing to help offset some of the additional cost that these tariffs have added to their products.

Per COBB's mandate, Turn 14 Distribution will be passing through these charges as a "Surcharge", similar to the program currently used by KW and ST Suspensions.  This means those surcharges will be billed as a separate Surcharge invoice.  Surcharges will appear as a pricelist on all COBB items, allowing dealers the ability to be aware of those surcharges and the opportunity to add them into their purchase cost for proper margin calculation.

How does this impact my integration?

We previously advised customers with the KW/ST program to use the "Surcharge" pricelist to inflate purchase cost since it's essentially an immediately billing Core Charge.  This same logic will work for the COBB program without any additional changes.  We'd recommend ensuring this logic is in place on your end to ensure your margins are inclusive of these new surcharges.

MAP and MSRP do not require any changes and can continue to be read and interpreted as usual.

If you have further questions, please reach out to apisupport@turn14.com and we'll be happy to help!

update: DBA Part Number Changes - June 10, 2025

DBA is issuing an update for all existing brake rotor SKU's to include "DBA" as a prefix to brake rotor part numbers. As such, the new MFR part number and T14 Part Number will take effect on June 10, 2025.

You can review the part number changes for our catalog in this conversion file.

How does this impact you?

This will have some or no action items depending upon how you have mapped our SKUs to your system.

Mapped Using T14 Part Number or MPNs

If you are mapped to Turn 14's API by part number, or the manufacturer's part number, it is crucial that these part numbers are updated within your system on this date to ensure that these items can continue to be identified, receive inventory and pricing updates, and be translated for orders.

If you're still storing and using the T14 part numbers or MPNs on your back end to identify products, we'd strongly encourage you to consider migrating to our Item ID.  This will prevent you from having to complete migrations like this in the future when a part number is re-SKU'd.

Mapped Using Item IDs

The item ID's associated with these part numbers will not change, so no change is required if you are mapped to the API through item ID's.

update: Enabling Freight Competition for Manufacturer Dropship Orders

Today, Turn 14 Distribution dealers have the ability to dropship directly from a manufacturer when:

  • They manually select the location (“ds” via the API)

  • T14 Distribution Centers don’t have inventory and they’ve enabled “automatic dropshipping” from Ordering Rules (Settings & Data -> Ordering Rules) and you use our “default” ordering logic (quote to order)

  • A product is marked as “Always Dropship”

Up to this point, all of our LTL freight dropshipped items from the MFR have been rate-quoted for shipping with TForce Freight.

In order to provide better service and pricing on freight orders coming directly from a manufacturer, we’re going to begin rate shopping orders from our LTL carrier partner network for manufacturer dropship orders, including R+L Carriers and XPO Logistics, for participating vendor partners.

If you follow our best practices, there should be no changes required to your integration, as you should just be selecting the most cost effective method (the first returned).  If speed is a factor, you can look at the transit times provided by our LTL Carrier partners and select another method, should that be preferred.  We will pass along the selection to our manufacturer partners.

If you have any questions or concerns about this change as it relates to your integration, please email apisupport@turn14.com.

feature: Introducing Roadie Same-Day Delivery Service

Turn 14 Distribution has added support for Roadie, our same day shipping carrier.  This new carrier allows for same-day deliveries within a 100 mile radius from each of our distribution centers, with real-time tracking and text updates to the delivery recipient.

Below are some helpful details on the specifics of this new carrier and how to handle its integration:

  • Roadie's shipping code is 46, which is returned as part of the quote response when an eligible address is provided.

  • Roadie's rates are based upon the number of miles from our distribution center and the size category.

  • A phone number will be required for the shipping method to be presented.  It will send the end-user text-based updates on their shipment progress.  Orders will be rejected if they do not include a phone number, or if it is invalid.

  • Roadie is available in all 4 of our DCs.

  • Orders must be received before 3pm local time of the distribution center for same-day pickup to occur.

  • Roadie picks up 7 days a week.

Some restrictions to be aware of:
  • There are size restrictions on the items that are allowed to ship via Roadie:

  • Addresses in California will not be eligible for this method, even if they're within 100 miles of our Reno facility.

  • Any shipments up to 30 miles will have a delivery window of 4 hours. (i.e. if an order is ready for driver pickup at 5pm, it could arrive as late as 9pm)

  • Any shipments over 30 and up to 100 miles will have an 8-hour delivery window. (i.e. if an order is picked up at 12pm, it could arrive as late as 8pm)

  • If orders are not received by a distribution center's cutoff time, the order will be delivered the following day.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email API Support.

update: Changes to UPS SurePost Deliveries

As of January 1, 2025, UPS has changed its service agreements with USPS and is no longer contracting them for last mile delivery.  All deliveries will be handled by UPS drivers.

As part of this transition, effective immediately, these states, territories, and address types can no longer be serviced by UPS SurePost:

  • Alaska

  • Hawaii

  • Puerto Rico

  • APO and PO Boxes

Our quote and order APIs will no longer show UPS SurePost as an option for these address types.

Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico can still be serviced using UPS's other shipping methods (Ground or Air).  APO and PO Boxes can only be served by USPS.

Please reach out to apisupport@turn14.com if you have any questions about this change or its impact on your ordering integration.

update: UPS LTL Freight Migration to TForce Freight LTL

As of today, UPS LTL Freight was retired on Turn14.com and the API.  Back in 2021, the UPS LTL Freight service was sold to TForce Freight, and as such, they have begun to wind down the old interfaces from the UPS system.

As part of that migration, we have discontinued the UPS LTL Freight shipping method (shipping_code 29) from being used.  Existing orders will be migrated or cancelled and replaced with the new method.

As of today, a new shipping method, TForce Freight LTL, will appear (shipping_code 45).  This will be included in any LTL Freight promotions or as part of preferred access if it's the cheapest LTL method that is less than any ground methods.

Unless you have specfically mapped to that shipping method, no action should be required on your end.

If you have any questions about this migration, please reach out to apisupport@turn14.com.

feature: Ship to Canada with Delivery & Duty Paid with FedEx Ground

Today, we launched a new shipping special option that will automatically include all customs clearance fees when shipping to Canadian addresses.

Previously, customers would be responsible for the tariffs and fees associated with the Canadian import at the time of delivery. Now customers can pay for these tariffs upfront, allowing them to see the cost impact of shipment when selecting FedEx Ground (Shipping Code 27).

Here's an example of what the response from the quote endpoint will look like for that shipping method:

{
  "shipping_quote_id": 13550912,
  "shipping_code": 27,
  "cost": 71.67,
  "days_in_transit": 4,
  "saturday_delivery": false,
  "signature_required": false,
  "customs_clearance": 36.53
}

The cost field will include the shipping charges plus the customs_clearance value.

FAQ

Will you have the ability to select or deselect the inclusion of the custom clearance fees?

No; it will be mandated to ship the items custom cleared and the fees will always be included.

Where will this method be available?

Customs clearance will only be available via FedEx Ground (Shipping Code 27) going to Canada.  No other shipping methods or countries are supported.

If you have any questions, please reach out to apisupport@turn14.com.

update: Turn 14 Distribution Midwest (Indianapolis) Distribution Center Now Live!

Turn 14 Distribution has launched the Indianapolis distribution center on the website, data export, and API.  You will now see the new location included in the location endpoint, inventory records for "03" on the inventory endpoint, and orders being fulfilled from that location when using the default logic or explicitly calling for that location.

You can read more about the technical details of this change in our previous announcement:  https://t14api.releasenotes.io/release/z8zFQ-new-distribution-center-support-indianapolis-03

If you have questions, please reach out to apisupport@turn14.com.

feature: New Attribute on v1/items: powersports_indicator

Today, we've launched a new attribute on our v1/items endpoint, powersports_indicator

If the value is true, then the item has a powersports focus.

If the value is false, then the item does not have a powersports focus.

How can I use this field?

This field can be used in a few ways:

  • Finding products that are powersports-focused across our full catalog, including brands that are mixed for multiple industries (i.e. K&N, Wiseco)
  • Determining products that are eligible for powersports preferred access rates
    • You can find these items by looking for items that have both powersports_indicator  = true and ltl_freight_required = false

We've also published an update to our API Docs to show the new attrbute in the sample response.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the need for this attribute.  Our API continues to evolve thanks to dealer and integrator feedback!

If you have questions about this attribute, or need assistance implementing this in your integration, please reach out to apisupport@turn14.com.
